Minella Rocco Odds and Grand National Form 201912:34, 5 Apr 2019 Updated 12:39, 5 Apr 2019 Minella Rocco didn’t break his duck over fences until winning the four-mile National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham three seasons ago. The big step up in distance obviously played to the horse’s strengths and the form of that race has been underlined in spades with the runner-up (Native River) going on to take numerous big races including last year’s Gold Cup and the 5th horse, Vicente, going on to win two Scottish Nationals. Trainer Jonjo O’Neill decided to give Minella Rocco a run in the Gold Cup two years ago and that piece of ambitious placing paid dividends with the horse staying on well to finish second to Sizing John. Things haven’t really gone to plan since though, winless last season and is yet to produce any form this season. Understandably a number of pundits have highlighted this horse’s erratic jumping as a possible issue at Aintree. O’Neill feels that the bigger fences will make the horse concentrate more.
